The IOM MS Society has been tremendously blessed over many years by the generosity of members, their families, their friends, from Isle of Man companies and Isle of Man charitable organisations. Some of these organisations have made numerous donations, most notable the Peel Dip which has made a donation every year since the first Peel Dip in 1983.
Members have donated over the years sometimes following a notable birthday or anniversary, or in the memory of a loved one, or from a cake bake, garden party or barbecue.
Members, their friends and families have donated after receiving sponsorship after doing various events such as the Parish Walk or the End to End cycle.
All donations stay in the Isle of Man to allow the IOM MS Society to provide such as things as services and grants to members, their families and carers. The fact that we are still able to provide grants is mainly due to donations (and to an extent from fundraising), so we need continued support from all parties in this area.
If you have any questions about donating, please contact derekpatience@hotmail.com or 480755.
Over the years, the business community has been a huge supporter of the MS Society. Significant donations received in 2024 and 2025 have included the following:
Many companies have charity committees which select a chosen charity or the staff choose a charity to be the recipient of a donation either from a specific event or from the year’s fundraising. Or sometimes firms have a "matching" policy where they will give a donation that is equal to the amount raised in a fundraising event. If your company does any of these, please remember to nominate the MS Society and encourage your work colleagues to vote for us.
Sandra Holland, Secretary IoM MS Society received a cheque for £2,500 from the Peel Charity Shop. The presentation to a number of charities was at a reception hosted by the donor.
The Peel Dip organisers have given a donation to the IOM MS Society every year since the first Peel Dip in 1983. MS member Christine Eames was instrumental in establishing the Peel Dip and each year 1/3 of the total funds raised is donated to the MS Society. Over the years, quite a few hardy souls with MS have done the Peel Dip. The most recent donation of £1,200 was received in 2025.
Donations can be made by transferring funds to the following account:
Please send an email to the Treasurer, Ruth Robinson, at dufeerob@gmail.com if you make an electronic transfer, so that the funds can be accounted for properly.
You can also mail cheques to Derek Patience, 3 Cronk Drean, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM2 6AY or give the cheque to any committee member.
Donations from charitable organisations and from general donations (from “major” birthdays or anniversaries and in memory of loved ones who have recently sadly passed away) have been another great area of funds received over the years. Significant donations received in 2024 and 2025 included the following donations:
If you are involved with a charitable organisation or have friends or family involved with one, please remember the IOM MS Society when making a donation.
