Regular exercise can help reduce a large number of MS symptoms including pain, fatigue, muscle weakness, mobility and co-ordination issues, can improve balance and prevent weight gain.
Exercise is also helpful in maintaining a healthy brain, can help prevent depression and improve cognitive function.
Experts advise we should be looking at programmes that help our heart (aerobic exercises), as well as strength and endurance exercises. A combination of these elements helps to keep muscles strong, improve stamina, reduce fatigue, and improve physical function.
Exercise regimes need to be tailored to your needs to ensure you are doing the right kind of exercise in the right way.
There is lots of information and advice regarding exercise available but you should check with your MS physio, MS nurse or GP before any starting exercises.
If you haven’t been to any of our MS exercises before, come along and give them a try.
